Empowering Communities

This volunteer coalition includes psychiatrists, clinicians, attorneys, business leaders, and families — people who care about people living with severe mental illness.

We advocate for a coordinated continuum of care outside of the criminal justice system—a mental health system people can be diverted to, that works across providers and agencies.

There must be an urgency to get people care - before tragedy occurs. Compassionate care that helps people stabilize, recover, and live full lives in the community.

We must engage families in care and in system reform efforts. Families are already crisis responders, caregivers, landlords, and payees—they are often the discharge plan. They are key providers in our service delivery systems. Families must be partners in this work and have a seat at the table.

We must build our crisis response and mental health systems to prioritize the people with the highest needs. We need an accountable, coordinated system. This will use resources effectively, and get the outcomes everyone wants. Most importantly, it will save the people we love.
